Protecting Our Youth and Elders — A Community Responsibility

Two groups in our community are especially vulnerable to crime: our youth and our seniors. Both deserve focused attention, care, and programs that prioritize their safety and well-being. Throughout my career, I have worked in crisis intervention, investigations, and community outreach, and I’ve seen how important these efforts are to the people we serve.

For our young people, positive relationships with law enforcement can shape how they view safety, responsibility, and community. I want to create programs that bring officers and students together—through mentorship, school engagement, and activities that build mutual trust and respect. When children know that their officers are approachable, supportive, and here to help, it strengthens the entire community.

Our seniors face different challenges. We’re seeing more and more scams, fraud attempts, and targeted crimes that prey on older adults. These crimes can be financially devastating and emotionally overwhelming. As Sheriff, I will work to implement stronger education and prevention efforts, host informational events, and provide direct support for residents who may be at risk.

Protecting our youth and our elders is not optional—it is a responsibility we all share. By focusing on prevention, education, and strong partnerships, we can create a safer Jefferson County for every generation.
